A Month in New York // Part 3

Sorry guys. The arunhasablog time machine is getting slower. Here is yet another entry from the series about my month in New York. See the last two here and here.

This post is mostly about hangouts with friends, which usually consist of eating and walking.

Ramen-Ya
West Village, Manhattan, New York

As you know, I love Ramen. You know who else loves ramen? The City of New York. There are great ramen places everywhere. Ramen-Ya is one of those great places. It’s a small hole in the wall serving tasty, chewy noodles in light, balanced broths. They know the recipe for the ideal ramen experience. Try it out when you are near NYU.

Walking Around Washington Square Park

As we were digesting our ramen, we walked through Washington Square Park. Vinny and Caroline were brave enough to feed and play with some of the pigeons.

What a boss. He’s playing not one but two brass instruments at once.

Bassanova Ramen
Chinatown, Manhattan, New York

Did I actually eat anything other than ramen when I was in New York? Well, I do remember eating other things, but I only have pictures of ramen. Who knows.

The beautiful bowl of green curry ramen below is Bassanova Ramen’s most famous dish. I was expecting it to just be a gimmick, but it really does stack up to the competition in the rest of New York. The noodles accept the soup nicely. The bowl is topped with ingredients usually found in curry. Yum!

Also, the restaurant is in a unique location in Chinatown. Here I was thinking all the ramen in New York is either in Midtown or in the Village. Silly me.

Vinny proved his worth in ramen. Not one, but two bowls for him.

Chilling With The CEO

My month in New York coincided with the Interop conference that was being held at the Javits Center. It gave me a chance to hang out with a few coworkers and then later get dinner and catch a show with the CEO of my company, Chandu.

He’s one of my most trusted mentors. I credit him for a lot of what I have learned in the last 4 years. I loved the chance to show him around my old home just as he helped me settle into the Bay Area years ago.
