2012 Fall in Palo Alto

I can’t believe that it is fall already. It feels like fall 2011 was just yesterday. I’ve already been pretty busy this season. Fortunately, I have had my camera around a lot.

On the 23rd, JJ, Jeff and I went on a long hike. I didn’t have RunKeeper on to record the hike, but I’m pretty sure it was almost 10 miles. The elevation change wasn’t too bad, but since it was an out and back trail and we went downhill on the way in, we had to huff and puff uphill on the way back to the car.

After the hike, we were all extremely tired and hungry. We stopped by BevMo for some sodas and other drinks and Como Esta Taqueria for quesadillas.

This drink tastes almost exactly like Limca, my favorite Indian soda.

While browsing the net, I came across a video about Unreal. It is a candy brand that claims to be “Candy Unjunked”. I’m not sure if it is actually healthier, but their version of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups was actually better than the original.

Their version of M&Ms are colored with vegetables. As a result, the colors are less artificial looking.

Last Weekend, my father visited me. We stayed in Monterey on Friday and Saturday. We spent most of the trip walking along the beach and talking.

Watching the hermit crabs in the tidepools was a lot of fun. They are extremely small and hard to spot in this picture.

Some surfers were enjoying the surf. Instead of swimming all the way out, they walked along the rocks to deeper water and swam the short distance to the big waves.

These girls seemed a bit too young to be cheerleaders.

The rocks that jut out of the shore provide plenty of vantage points to view the ocean and many great places to sit and talk.

There is something therapeutic in watching the waves crash into the rocks, empty out and then return. The amazing thing is that these waves have probably been periodically crashing into these rocks in a similar manner for the last hundreds of years.

An interesting house on the shore. I couldn’t get the perfect framing because walking off the path is prohibited.

I’ll leave you all with a panorama I took with my 30D and 30mm f/1.4. It is a composite of 6 photographs and 16.8 megapixels in resolution. Click on it to go see the full-size image on Flickr.
