The mod is quite easy. It will be an easy way to get some soldering experience. Here are the steps:

1. Remove the cord from the iPhone earbuds. I would suggest separating the flat mesh part of the earbuds from the body of the earbuds. In my older iPhone earbuds, that is at the seam between the grey mesh part and the white body. You want as much cord as possible so that the mic can be low enough when installed.

2. Desolder the wires from the earbuds or just cut them and strip the wires again. You can use solder wick to pick up the solder or just melt the solder and pull the wire off. You can find guides for this online.

3. Unscrew the ES7s. If you remove the earcups, you should see some screws.

4. Desolder the original wires from the ES7s.

5. Thread the earbud wires. I think the original wires had a knot for stress release. I’d put a knot in the earbud wires also so that the wires never get yanked out.

6. Solder the earbud wires back. Make sure that you get the polarity right. Just make sure that the black wire in the iPhone headphones gets soldered to the contact that the original black wire was soldered to and that the other wire goes with the other contact.

7. Put the ES7s back together!
